a book of (some) days - march - august

seeing florence and the machine. i was alone in the crowd but for my wand and i held it up so high. (13 march)

yayoi kusama sculpture outside the new building of agnsw. (2 april)

video still of my altar to brigid, the celtic goddess of creativity and fire. i have since moved this to a shelf but i still like this photo. (25 april)

my pinboard decorations at my father’s house in hobart. didn’t have one before when i visited so I went all out. i was there to do some recovering and it worked for a while. (3 may)

further decoration in hobart, this time above my desk. aura colours and meanings, cauldron cakes, my first art magick altar, and a photo from the cottingley fairies series. (6 june)

meeting my absolute idol, jane campion. i first saw her coming out of the bathroom at the venue, scared the shit out of me. later i met her again after her Q/A with david stratton, she yanked me onto the little stage to show everyone my dress. i gave her the card i made and tried not to stammer for minutes on end about what she has done for me. i mentioned how much i love her unique female characters as a neurodivergent woman myself. she said “Oh me too, probably.” a stranger took this photo and i walked away shaking.

had a dearest friend amelie to stay for three weeks after not seeing her in person for seven years. we shopped, we laughed, we danced, we listened to dolly parton, we threw a june-oween party, we went to a convention, a med faire and a haunted quarantine station (nothing followed us home). i thank the universe for her and every other heart twin. (20 june)

the spooky cake from mine and amelie’s june-oween party. cauldron spill. i had another two dear friends over and they pelted amelie with questions about her adventures in life. we watched hocus pocus and dracula and i relished the idea of not having to watch DEEP AND SERIOUS films all the time.

a new hat from the medieval faire. i have a black witch hat already, but i couldn’t resist this one too. i love it to pieces and will wear it often in october. (2 july)

a balloon bought for my mother as a welcome home gift when she returned from finland. she has been home more than a month and it is still floating on my ceiling as high as ever. it is hard not to think of it as held up by some magic. this is also the very first photo taken with my brand new camera. my old one died completely after 12 years of constant use and i was gifted a very good quality new one by my parents. i am very lucky in them, for this and everything else. (19 august)
